no more pencils, no more books

wow i sure have neglected my poor little blog. i've just had a lot on my plate these days but thankfully my plate is about to get really empty. yes sir summer vacation is 1 day away from me. my head is about to explode from excitement and happiness. this past school year has been one of the hardest years of my life but i won't get in to all the details of why the school i work at completely sucks. i just want to think about having a wonderful summer and going on a well deserved vacation in 1 day to NYC with my guy<3

but i won't lie i sure will miss my kiddos. their last day in school was yesterday and it was bittersweet. one of my little ones said "i'm going to miss you, can i hug you?" and i literally had to fight back the tears. those kids were the only thing keeping me going at that school, thank God for those kids:)

jingle bell rock

last monday my class and the other second grade classes took part in the school's christmas show. it was all very last minute and we had like a week to put it together. we decided on doing jingle bell rock with a modern twist and i somehow became the choreographer. i must admit at first i was a little nervous because the other classes were just lost. but amazingly enough monday it all came together and it was just so cute. i was like a proud momma watching them on stage:)

a little late...

i know thanksgiving is way over but i'm behind on my blogging and just wanted to share my classroom turkey. i love it so much and it took me forever to take it down from the wall. my super creative co-worker made the turkey and then my students drew what they were thankful for on the feathers. she's so cute and definitely going up every year.

happy friday

so many other things i would rather be doing on a friday night instead of grading 2 billion papers (ok maybe i'm exaggerating a little), but duty calls.

hope everyone else is having a fun friday night! hey at least it's the weekend!!!!!!

fall festival

today i had a fall festival party in class with my students and i spent a lot of money and time getting everything ready but it was so worth it because they had so much fun. my favorite was when they played the mummy wrap game.

working with kids is the best, i had a lot of laughs with them today.

it's been a hot minute

the past two weeks i have been a busy little bee and had no time for my dear little blog.

school has been crazy! the first day was complete madness and i can't even begin to explain all the things that were wrong. it's safe to say that the school i work at is the most unorganized and unprofessional school. ever.

but regardless of the craptastic school i love my job. i love the group of kids i have and i love teaching them. so i figure if i love it under these circumstances then i am on the right path. i just wish i could give them the best and it is impossible to do at this school. but i will make the best of it.

so i shall leave you with some pics of my parents and i trying to get my classroom ready on the sunday before school started, crazy i know! i will post after pictures but i'm still not completely done so that will be another hot minute.

feel like a kid again

i'm getting that nervous/excited feeling i use to get before the first day of school. i think it's ten times worst though because i didn't get nearly enough time to get my classroom ready since it was still under construction. but things are coming together i'm very excited.

the first day of school is also making me miss the first graders i had the opportunity to teach for the last few months of school last year. they were absolutely amazing and definitely set the bar high for all my future classes.

i went school supply shopping today and i got A LOT of stuff. i always loved school supply shopping when i was a kid and even as an adult whenever i go into an office max i want to get everything, is that weird? well at least now i have an excuse to do it every year:)
